Handwritten letter on white paper. Written in black ink. The letter reads as follows:
Dear Pat, Ides of March, '18
I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation last week. I am well aware that your job is a difficult one--but also one of importance and influence. For three years I was a paid historian at the McKinley Presidential Museum before teaching at Mount Union.
I believe on three separate occasions I spoke in Niles (twice at the Masonic Lodge), a few years ago. I think I mentioned that the cooperation I received in working on the McKinley book was quite helpful
I hope you enjoy my anecdotes on the McKinleys in Vol. IV. there are also plenty of others in the previous volumes. I enjoy writing more about McKinley and Garfield than any other Presidents. ----- their military careers were also very interesting.
I hope you and yours enjoy a good spring and summer. Our summers are spent in northern Michigan each year (in Antrim County on Lade Bellaire). We have been going there since 1976.
Vaya Con Dios, Richard L. McElroy, Psalm 139
P.S. I forgot to include this letter in my package I mailed to you.-- Sorry!
