Scope and Content

Black and white postcard. The front shows William McKinley accepting the nomination for his second term as President on July 12, 1900. The image shows President McKinley standing on a platform, flanked by bunting, with many listeners. The caption on the back reads as follows: "PRESIDENT MCKINLEY ACCEPTING THE NOMINATION FOR THE SECOND TERM, JULY 12, 1900 40th Annual Exhibition of McKinley Stamp Club of Canton - April 3-4, 1971 Photo from original plate in McKinleyana Collection of Mr. & Mrs. George R. Bechtel, Jr. of Canton, Ohio." The postmark is located in the message area and reads as follows: "McKinley Stamp Club Ex. Sta. Canton, OH Apr 4, 1971". The five cent United States postage stamp is in the lower right corner of the card, and is of the "New Jersey Tercenary 1664 1964." It has an image of three early founders of New Jersey.
