Scope and Content

Presidents of the United States, William McKinley Envelope postmarked "WASHINGTON, D. C. , DEC 2 9-AM, 1938," and addressed to "WILLIAM H. GREEN, 124 Cleveland Ave. S. W., CANTON, OHIO." One 25 cent rose colored, "WILLIAM McKINLEY, 1897-1901" postage stamp is affixed to the envelope in the upper right hand corner. Cancellation lines run across the stamp and envelope. Below the stamp it reads, "-FIRST DAY OF ISSUE-" On the left side of the envelope is a black and white circular portrait of William McKinley inside a green background rectangle. Above the portrait are the words, "PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES," and below "WILLIAM McKINLEY, 1897-1901, FIRST DAY COVER." The back has "1 75" written on it in pencil. The envelope has a letter or card inside, but appears to have never been opened.
