Description

This item is a white round paper tag from a McKinley cane. It has a reddish brown string attached. The front of the tag is done in blue. It has a picture of McKinley with the word Protection above it and Prosperity below it with some decorative elements on each side of the picture. The backside has text with a double line border. The text says, "McKinley Cane. This great object lesson is made to show the wonderful toughness and fine surface of American tin. Major McKinley has in his posession one of these canes of which he is justly proud. State of Ohio, Seneca County, ss: C.S. Baron, Secretary; A.L. Baron, Manager; and Frank Haffey, Foreman of Ohio Lantern Co., of Tiffin, Ohio, being first sworn, depose and say that all their tin canes are made and will continue to be made during the present campaign entirely of American tin C.S. Baron, Secretary; A.L. Baron, Manager; and Frank Haffey, Foreman. [Seal] Sworn to before me and subscribed in my presence this 22nd day of May, 1896. Harry Taggart. Notary Public, Seneca Co., O."
