2010.1.2214Description
This is a 2 part commemorative pin made of celluloid, metal, and cloth. A plain doubled black silk ribbon is attached to the pin and the bottom is cut into an upside down V shape. Centered on the front of the pin is a circular sepia toned picture, with an almond colored background, of the McKinley Home located in Canton, Ohio. Two circular pictures, also sepia toned, of William McKinley on the left, Ida Saxton McKinley on the right, are situated above the McKinley Home and within its circle. The printed words surrounding the picture are brown in color, but are faded and difficult to read. The legible words read: "President. Wife. Home. 1900." On the reverse side is a metal pin with clasp for attachment. The ribbon is secured by the pin and holds the pieces together, and this side is also plain. An old accession number is written in black: "95.70.169." No other markings are visible on the piece.Collection
