William McKinley commemorative porcelain plate measuring 10 1/2" in diameter. The plate is ivory in color and trimmed in gold. A portrait of William McKinley, done in brown, is featured. Below his portrait are 6 lines of text that read as follows:

Born, January 29, 1843, Niles, Ohio.
Inaugurated President, First Term, March 4, 1897.
Shot, September 6, 1901, by Czolgosz, Buffalo, N. Y.
Died, September 14, 1901.
Buried, September 19, 1901, Canton, Ohio.
The back of the plate is plain, and has a manufacturer's label that reads TRADE MARK SHAW, referencing an earthenware manufacturer from England. However at this time the parent company of the SHAW label was for A.J. Wilkinson LTD, named after a different pottery manufactuer, who died in 1891 and whose company shifted to his brother-in-law Arthur Shorter but the companys name remained Wilkinson. Under Shorter, A.J. Wilkinson LTD absorbed Anthony Shaw’s famous Royal Staffordshire Pottery work, hence the use of the SHAW label on this particualr plate.Collection
