Description

Color postcard with photographic view of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial at night in winter, with snow on the ground and holiday lights on the building. A white banner reading "William McKinley Memorial" in black all-capital letters is at the bottom front. The back reads as follows: "holiday view of the William McKinley irthplace Memorial in Niles, Ohio, honoring the nation's 25th President, born here in 1843. The building, constructed in 1917, consists of two wings flanking a court of honor. The right wing houses an auditoriumand museum of McKinley memorabilia, the left, a public library." Two overlapping postmarks read "Niles OH December 4 1979 44446." The cancelled stamp is a ten-cent stamp, showing two crossed United States flags with "10c" in blue beneath the flags, and the words "United States" in red letters on either side of the ten. The message on the left is handwritten an reads "Happy Holidays! The Niles Chamber of Commerce." The area on the right shows the printed words "post card" and the handwritten address "Consolidated Advertising 106 Robbins Ave. Niles, OH 44446." The publisher's name and address are written vertically and serve as a spearation between the left and right sides. The maker's mark "dp" and the words "Made by Dexter Press West Nyack, New York" are printed at the bottom center.
