Private First Class Charles Edmond Reed enlisted in the Harrodsburg National Guard some time before the unit was activated in November 1940. He was trained as a tank driver. He was taken prisoner on 9 April 1942 and survived the Death March. He was held at Camp O'Donnell and Calauan where he worked on a bridge building detail. He was also held at Cabanatuan and Bilibid Prison. He was put aboard the Hell Ship 33Taga Maru for Moji, Japan and was taken to Niigata 5-B where he worked as a stevedore. He died on 11 August 1967.Collection
