Description

Anthony Burnham was in Montreal in 1973. He holds a bachelor’s in fine arts from Concordia University. Burnham works primarily in painting. His work is characterized by an exploration of various methods of production, techniques, and styles of art. Burnham's approach to art aims to remove any formal classification, giving focus to the meaning behind the art and the conceptual framework that go into it. The artist sees contemporary painting as a medium for a discussion of the closely mediated and staged process of making and plays with formal elements, such as perspective, to test their symbolic function and meaning in the artwork. Currently, Burnham lives and works in Montreal. Numerous key galleries and museums such as Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec have featured Anthony Burnham's work.
