Guillaume Adjutor Provost (b. 1987, Outaouais, Québec) is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher and educator who experiments with forms of exhibition, collection, text, and curation. His artistic practice is motivated by a desire to bring forward a discussion on class consciousness, counter-culture, French folk imagery, and queerness, which have often been put to the side.
Working in a variety of mediums, Provost creates artworks that aim to remind viewers of the humanist ideas of experimentation, freedom, and critical thinking. Using familiar imagery, they act as visual representations of the artist’s findings in his creative pursuit of knowledge.
Adjutor has a doctorate in Art Studies and Practices from the Université de Québec à Montréal. His work has been presented internationally in France, Austria, Belgium, Scotland, Germany, Lithuania and Spain.
