Patryk Stasieczek (b. 1985) is a visual artist based out of Montreal and Vancouver. Stasieczek works primarily in photography, experimenting with installation and different material techniques to investigate the properties of light and colour.
Stasieczek’s new series of photographs utilizes polypropylene sheets to create installations in and around his studio. The images captured by his camera reflect the malleability of the medium which is crumpled, punctured, heated, melted, and stretched to create a unique surface that reflects and diffuses the light. The artist views the abstract chaos as a personal representation of the overwhelming emotions that fracture into everyday life. Stasieczek turns the process of making his works into a form of meditation where the visceral manipulation of the medium serves to free him from his internal conflicts.
Stasieczek holds a Master of Applied Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography and philosophy from Concordia University in Montréal, QC. He has exhibited across Canada and the United States.Artwork Details
