Deveon Knowles (b. 1977, London, Ontario) is a Vancouver-based artist interested in the different methods of material production and traditional craftsmanship. Working in metal, stained glass, plastic, paper, paint, and various other mediums, her artworks consider how both the physical properties and cultural meanings around a material affect and influence the language that surrounds it.
Between '17 and '18 is a set of two works made of different materials (aluminum and stained glass) that depict the same design. Knowles plays with each medium to highlight how the differences in optical effects and tactility changes how the artworks are experienced.
