Hannah Hur (b. 1985, Toronto), lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in 2008 and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019.
Hur paints abstract, geometric, and repetitious forms on raw linen or silk, combining the practices of painting and drawing through her use of pencil crayon, China marker and watercolour paints. She sees herself at the mercy of her painting. The squares, circles, triangles, and lines fluidly take form as the artist lets the work unfold on its own.
Hur's works can be found in numerous galleries and museums such as the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Hanna Hur has been featured in articles for Art Viewer, MOUSSE Magazine, and The Globe and Mail.
Hannah Hur is the twin sister of aritst Lotus Laurie Kang.
