by Jérôme Auzoux (1881). The life-size female model pictured is posing as Venus de Milo, and all the muscles and organs are labeled in French when disassembled. Auzoux never practiced medicine but attempted to address the need that medical students had to learn anatomy through the production of his paper-mâché models.
