In the early part of the 20th century when the dangers of radiation weren’t appreciated, glow in the dark clocks and watches with radioactive paint were very popular. To delicately paint the numbers lady workers touched their tongues with that dangerous paint.
The resultant deaths from malignancy went unrecognized for years. Here is an image of one of those ladies with the clock she was painting along with a sample of radioactive paint.Condition
