Hippocrates of Cos treeDescription
A small cutting from one of the trees under which Hippocrates taught medicine on the Greek island of Cos was given to the National Library of Medicine when it opened in December of 1961.
That cutting grew into a large tree that since has died.
While a student visiting the NLM I gathered a few fallen branches from that tree and I now invite visitors to stand under a descendant of the tree under which Hippocrates taught medicine to his students.Dimensions
