Abraham Seklemian was born in Musa Ler in the village of Bitias and attended the local parish school. From a young age, he was noted for his remarkable attentiveness and diligence, becoming proficient in English. He later worked as a teacher in Erzurum, where he was arrested for revolutionary activities. After his release, he published two volumes in Istanbul: The Way to Be a Man and True Woman. In the wake of the Hamidian massacres and just two years after the publication of this book, he moved to America in 1896 and published an English-language book titled The Golden Maiden and Other Folk Tales and Fairy Stories Told in Armenia. In 1908, with the help of several allies, he founded the newspaper Asbarez in Fresno, serving as its editor-in-chief for many years. He passed away in 1920.
