Estate of Garabet Şahinyan:
In the telegram received with the signature of Müşir Stefanaki, the chief civil officer of London, it is stated that he was appointed as the representative for the factory and its appurtenances over which he was mutasarrıf in the Kemer area of Sivas, and that he has formally addressed the local government. This document is sealed by the provincial translator Emanuel and is dated May 7, 1321 / May 20, 1905.Relationships

Garabed and Mihran Shahinian (see Postcard #9), both survivors of the Armenian Genocide, were detained and imprisoned during the atrocities. After their release, they settled in Constantinople, where each established a photography studio. Garabed founded and operated the Cumhuriyet photography studio, while Mihran established Galatasaray Studio, which later came under the directorship of his daughter, Mayram.
Garabed Shahinian was noted to have financed and supported an Armenian orphanage in the immediate aftermath of the Hamidian massacres. He lived near the Surp Astvatsatsin Cathedral in the middle of the city.Note Type
