Silver Belt #4Description
An Armenian silver belt crafted using niello techniques, dating to the late 19th century. On the inner side of the belt's buckle, the Armenian letters "ԱՊ" (likely the initials of the owner's first and last name) are inscribed.
A belt crafted in a similar style is known to us from the historical town of Agn referenced in a memorial document (link under weblinks). By comparing the engravings, it can be suggested that this is the work of the same master craftsman.
Another belt in the same style is known from the historical city of Arabkir (second weblink).
The belt's style is similar to that of Dagestani belts from the Caucasus, though there are differences.Provenance
