Girl’s DressDescription
The girl’s dress, possibly from Javakhk but more likely from Western Armenia, features a headband and a sash embroidered with Armenian writing — «Ի Վա(յ)ելում Կապողին» — meaning “for the joy of the one who ties it.” The coins adorning the outfit are replicas of Ottoman coins from the reign of Mahmud II, suggesting that the entire costume likely originates from Ottoman Armenia, particularly Erzurum.
The seller stated that they were originally from Erzurum. After the genocide, they moved to Bulgaria, and later, in the 1940s, they came to Armenia.Clothing/Dress/Costume Details
