Description

The same sister from the previous postcard writes again to Mr. Parounag, asking why he hasn’t responded. She mentions being ill for 50 days and writing this letter from her bed. She observes other students receiving gifts from their relatives, such as fountain pens, and asks her brother to send her one as well, along with a photo camera. Additionally, she shares that she will no longer be attending the monastery school and advises against sending correspondence there. She promises to explain the reasons in more detail once she has fully recovered.

The Parnay family name was originally Yedi-Kardashian. In the early 1900s, it was shortened to Parnay by a family member, S. Y. Parnay (Parnag), likely for practical reasons. Parnag, born in Kostamanou near the Black Sea in Turkey around 1885, later moved with his family to Kayseri in central Turkey before emigrating to the United States around 1900. He settled in Pasadena and worked briefly for the U.S. Forest Service. Parnag had a brother named Mardig was in the Oriental business in Berkeley in 1906, two blocks from Sather Gate.
