Description

Boghos Hovnanian (September 12, 1802, Constantinople – January 9, 1884, Vienna) was a renowned Armenian linguist, historian, geographer, and pedagogue. He became a member of the Mekhitarist Congregation of Vienna in 1824, a Catholic Armenian religious order known for its emphasis on education, culture, and scholarly pursuits. Hovnanian made significant contributions to the fields of linguistics, history, and geography, enriching Armenian academic life and literature. He was also the brother of Ghevond Hovnanian, further highlighting the family’s influence on Armenian intellectual and cultural heritage. This small publication was published posthumously in 1912 and is the sixth edition of an earlier work by him.
