Scope and Content

Abraham and his brother (name unknown) were manufacturing merchants based in Constantinople. Their business was located at the Youssoufian Han on Fincancılar Street, No. 14. Abraham's business continued at least into the 1940s, this time with a new partner, Aram Kamparosyan. This document is a financial record from Crédit Lyonnais, London branch, dated April 30, 1923. It is addressed to Messrs. A. & B. Djunbuchian Frères in Constantinople and serves as a confirmation of a previous letter from the 9th of an unspecified month. The letter informs the recipients that their account was debited for a cheque payment. The cheque, numbered 968685, was issued on April 20 for the amount of £24 15s 2d (24 pounds, 15 shillings, and 2 pence). It was paid on April 28 to Altendorff, Wright & Darr. The document essentially functions as a bank statement or transaction receipt, notifying the recipients that the payment was processed without prior notice.
