Yeznik Kajuni was an Armenian educator, scouting pioneer, and public health advocate born in 1897 in Arabkir. During his early years, he became an active member of the Tork sports organization and established himself as a prominent figure in the Armenian physical education movement. He was a close collaborator of Shavarsh Krissian, the founder of the influential sports periodical Marmnamarz, to which Kajuni contributed numerous lectures and articles focused specifically on hygiene and public health. His energy and enthusiasm for physical culture made him a central figure in organizing Sunday hiking expeditions and outdoor activities for the youth. Following the First World War, Kajuni moved to Yerevan, where he dedicated his career to the development of the scouting movement and physical education in the newly forming Armenian state. He served as a physical education instructor within the American orphanages in Armenia, playing a vital role in the rehabilitation and physical training of orphans. His professional expertise led to his appointment as a physical education teacher at the Alexandrian and Kalfayan gymnasiums. Throughout his life, Kajuni remained a foundational member of the Homenetmen (Armenian General Athletic Union), contributing to the organization's mission of fostering national identity through athletics and scouting. Ludvig Gideon Kumlien (1874 – 1934) was a Swedish gymnast, physical educator, and promoter of Swedish gymnastics best known for spreading the Swedish system of gymnastics (based on the methods of Pehr Henrik Ling) outside Sweden — particularly in France around the turn of the 20th century.Category
