Letter addressed to Zarmayr Geziurian, director and editor of the Dajar periodical published in Constantinople. July 21, 1911, Galatia Reverend Father Zarmayr Geziurian, Director and Editor of the Dajar journal, Constantinople I have received the receipt dated the 16th of this month enclosed in issue no. 27 of Dajar. Just as you were surprised, I was even more surprised that our Prelate, without directly hearing anything from me, hastened to act upon a mistaken and distorted understanding of the situation by returning to you the subscription receipt filled out in my name… ____________________________ He promises to send 20 ghurush by the end of July — his six-month debt. ____________________________ They sent the latest issue of Dajar along with a brief note — a two-line letter — placed in the envelope. The phrase “տոմսը առի” (“I took the ticket”) means that he read the note… He wrote: “I had promised to pay at the end of this month. I don’t think my character is unknown to you.” The half-year subscription fee, indeed, is 20 kurush (as we can see on the newspaper). Born in 1865 to musician Tadeos Gezuryan in Sivas. He was also the editor of Puzantion. Zarmayr Gezuryan continued being an editor of weekly newspapers into the 1930s with the Hay Hosnak monthly periodical in Istanbul. He passed away mid 1940s.Category
