Copper Plate (Nerses Manugian)

Description

This copper plate is inscribed with the name of Nerses Manugian, one of Aintab’s best-known coppersmiths. Its tin coating indicates that it was intended for dining use rather than cooking. Born in 1878 to Avedis Manugian in Aintab, Nerses later relocated to Aleppo, where he established a workshop in the city’s renowned coppersmiths’ market.
