Copper Plate (Sarkis Çemberciyan)

Description

Copper plate inscribed with the name Sarkis Çemberciyan, one of Aintab’s better-known copperware manufacturers. Coated in tin, indicating it was intended for dining use. Sarkis Çemberciyan was born on 1883 in Aintab. He eventually settled in Aleppo where he had a workshop in the coppersmiths market of the city. He had a son named Hovhannes Chemberjian who also was a coppersmith.
