In 1910, Armenians who had emigrated from the village of Gullidje (modern-day Güllüce) in Erzindjan’s sub-district to the United States established a scholastic association. By 1914, the organization had grown to 40 members and amassed an endowment of $800. The annual interest from this fund was sent back to support the village school. A local chapter of the association also operated in Gullidje, led by a shopkeeper whose store sold consumer goods. The store’s annual profits, amounting to 20-25 Ottoman pounds, were likewise donated to the school.
Similarly, press reports highlight the formation of a scholastic union in Detroit, Michigan, by migrants from the Mahmoudtsik village of Erzindjan. In 1912, this organization contributed $77 toward the renovation of their village school.
This seal stamp originates from Molla Kyugh (modern-day Mollaköy), suggesting the existence of another branch of the scholastic association.Created By
