Sharam Mechigian was born in Constantinople on June 15, 1906, to an Armenian family originally from Erzincan. He had two older brothers, Garbis and Aram, both born in Erzincan. Sharam immigrated to the United States on January 15, 1924, and settled in Detroit, Michigan, where his brothers had already established their lives.
In Detroit, he built a family of his own, marrying Arpie and raising two children, Aram and Nancy. Following his brother Aram’s tragic passing in an automobile accident, Sharam joined Garbis in running the A.G.S. Leather Company, remaining dedicated to the family business for many years.
Sharam Mechigian passed away on August 13, 1996, in Michigan.
