The owner and responsible editor: Puzant Keçyan. Located in Dersaadet (Istanbul), near the Public Debt Administration, on Hocahani Street, (Puzantiyon) newspaper. Puzant Keçyan was the proprietor of the Armenian-language newspaper Püzantiyon, published between 1896 and 1918. The newspaper held a significant position among periodicals of its time, such as Jamanak, Masis, Punç, and Arevelk. It featured articles on various topics, including allegations of massacres of Armenians in different regions, tax-related pressures, and the 1909 Adana Events. These publications were monitored by Ottoman officials and, when deemed necessary, subjected to scrutiny. Following the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era, there was a brief period of press freedom, during which Püzantiyon’s influence grew. However, this freedom was short-lived, and the press came under control again. Püzantiyon was suspended on June 10, 1909, for “malicious” publications. After resuming operations for a time, the newspaper’s contributors faced significant challenges following the events of April 24, 1915 when Keçyan was arrested and sent to Çankiri. He survived but then fled abroad. Ultimately, Püzantiyon published its final issue in 1918, concluding its publication history.
