Esayan School, c. 1950s. This class photograph includes Hermine Agavni Kalustyan at its center. As principal of Esayan Armenian School in Istanbul, Kalustyan was one of the most influential Armenian educators in Republican Turkey. She later served in Turkey’s Constituent Assembly (1961), becoming the first non-Muslim minority woman to hold a parliamentary role in the country.Photograph Details
