The initials H. M. T. stand for Hrand Markar Tashjian (March 28, 1880 – September 1966). Born in Constantinople, Tashjian was a major regional distributor and recording agent for Odeon Records in the early 20th century. He was responsible for organizing recording sessions, scouting traditional musicians, and distributing these shellac discs to the local market and the growing diaspora.
