The reason for this written receipt is as follows: For the purpose of profit-making, through the hand of my paternal uncle, Avedis Efendi Şahinyan, I entrusted my personally owned gold jewelry to him. In exchange for only a portion of the said jewelry being successfully invested with the Hapeshtsi Greeks, four (4) Ottoman gold coins were brought and delivered to my uncles’ shop. However, upon the occurrence of the incident, I later discovered that this had become unknown/lost. Of these four Ottoman gold coins, I personally received two Ottoman liras from Karapet Efendi Şahinyan. The remainder of my gold jewelry in its entirety, as well as one half of the said four gold liras (that is, two liras in total), remain claims I hold against my paternal uncle, Avedis Efendi.
