Bâdî-i terkim-i sened oldur ki; Sivas tüccarından Şahinyan Garabed Efendi malından ... marifetiyle iştira ve tesellüm eylediğim bir re's öküz esmânı olan ber-vech-i bâlâ yalnız sekiz aded lira-yı osmanî ... deyni zîr tarihinden i'tibaren bâlâda gösterilen takasit vechile nakden Sivas'da kendisine veyahut emrine tediye etmeğe borçluyum. Şayed va'desi hitamında tediye edemediğim halde mürur eden eyyamın güzeşte-i nizamiyesini dahi re'sülmale ilave tediye etmek ve merciimiz Sivas mehakimi olmak üzere işbu senedim bi't-tahtim itâ kılındı.

The beginning of this promissory note is as follows: From the property of Şahinyan Garabed Efendi, a merchant of Sivas, through the mediation of Patrikyan Artin Efendi, I have purchased and received one head of ox, the price of which is eight Ottoman liras as stated above. I hereby acknowledge that I owe this amount and undertake to pay it in cash in Sivas to him or to his order, according to the instalments shown above, starting from the date written below. If I fail to make payment at the end of the agreed term, I also agree to add to the principal the legal arrears for the elapsed days and to pay them as well.
