Dress Green jacket from the estate of Col. Marjorie E. Dolezel, Army Nurse Corps, 1941-1975. Col. Dolezel was from Royal Oak, MI. Ribbon Bar: American Defense Service Medal w/ One star, American Campaign medal, European/African/Middle East Campaign Medal w/ one star, WWII Victory Medal, Armed Forces reserve Medal with 2 Hour Glass devices, Reserve Components Achievment Medal. Left Sleeve: 123 Army Reserve Command patch Right Sleeve: ETO Advance Base Patch with OISE tab. 8 overseas bars Colonel Dolezel’s Ribbon Bar • Meritorious Service Medal o Outstanding noncombat meritorious achievement or service to the United States. • Army Reserve Components Achievement medal o Since 3 March 1972 the medal has been authorized on completion of four years’ service. As of 25 February 1995, the length of qualifying service was reduced to three years. The medal has different reverses for National Guard and Army Reserve recipients. • American Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star o Army: 12 months of active duty service during 1939-1941. Bronze star worn on the service ribbon to denote of any navy, army or, coast guard bars. • American Campaign Medal o Service outside the U.S in the American theater for 30 days, or within the continental United States (CONUS) for one year. • European – African – Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star o Service in the European- African – Middle Eastern theater for 30 days or receipt of any combat decoration. Bronze star denoted participation in the specific campaigns • World War ll Victory Medal o Awarded for service in the U.S Armed Forces. December 7 1941 – December 31 1946. • Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Bronze Hourglass o 10 years of honorable service in any reserve component of the United States Armed Forces Reserve. Only bronze hourglasses were awarded at each successive 10 year point. Colonel Dolezel’s Sleeve Insignia • 123 Army Reserve Command Patch • European Theater Of Operations (ETO) Advance Base Patch o The European Theater of Operations patch showed lightning bolts snapping the chains of Nazi oppression. The ETO's Advanced Base superimposed the Army Service Force patch on the lightning bolts. • 8 Service bars o Entitlements. All personnel wear one stripe for each four years of active duty service or reserve service in an active status in any of the armed services.
