2017.20.20Description
Why is there a WRIF shirt in the museum collection?
This shirt was sent to me, along with a bunch of other WRIF swag, while I was on Arifjan during the summer of 2004. It was sent by the DJ “Meltdown”.
This is the shirt shown in the photograph of myself and Ken North holding up the shirt in front of the picture of Saddam Hussein, making it look like he was wearing the shirt.
Our original plan was to put the shirt on a full bust sculpture of Saddam that was located in building 5, but since this was a secure building, we could not get a camera in to complete the mission. The photo was hanging in our briefing room in the Comm-El building, so we took that picture instead. We sent it to Meltdown, and it was on the WRIF website for a while.
