Soviet Optics Tube

Name/Title

Soviet Optics Tube

Entry/Object ID

Description

Metal storage tube for unknown Soviet Optics. Brought back from Mogadishu, Somalia in 1994 by Robert Causley, who was providing TACOM support to the UN mission there. We were originally told this was a rocket tube, but we had it looked at by a person familiar with Soviet gear and he said it was meant to hold some sort of optics, possibly a tank or artillery gun sight. It is marked TK-2 144-65, and TK was a Soviet designation for a sight device.
