1950 Clarkat Industrial Tow Motor
Clarkat S/N CKC-221PT was one of two machines shipped on 26 December 1950 to Continental Motors in Muskegon.
The Getty Road plant is where Continental manufactured tank engines for the US Army, this tug was likely ordered in response to the production increases brought on by the Korean War.
It has an older style Detroit Arsenal property tag riveted to the back panel, so it appears this was purchased as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) on a tank production contract through the arsenal.
This tug served as a support vehicle for Continental tank engine production until it was retired in the mid 1990’s. It was purchased by an employee at the plant who drove it home and kept it until the museum purchased it in 2022.
The vehicle is unrestored and retains the paint and markings it had when it was driven out of the plant.Motor Vehicle Type
