Description

photo of Ford GPAs swimming in the Rouge River. In the summer of 1941, the Army re-visited the amphibious requirement for the jeep, and solicited designs from industry. In March of 1942; they selected a Ford design, which used the same driveline as the production jeep. On 11 April 1942, Ford contracted to build the GPA, with deliveries beginning in late summer 1942.
