1943 Clark CT-6 “Clarktor”
Mill-44 (Heavy) S/N H-3237
Built by the Clark Equipment Company in Battle Creek, Michigan, this Clarktor CT6 Mill-44 H-3237 was one of four machines shipped on 29 April 1943 to the Indianapolis Storage Depot. The "H" model was built especially for the armed forces.
The located at the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds, the Indianapolis Storage Depot was an interim storage depot used during the early part of WWII while the Columbus (Ohio) Storage Depot was built. The Clarktors shipped there could have gone to defense plants but most of them went to air bases and military installations in the U.S. and overseas. A USAF property tag found during the restoration of this tug indicate it spent part of it’s at North American Aviation facility, it is likely this tug never left the continental United States.
