Description

The Uniform of First Lieutenant Harold W. Wedding This uniform belonged to Lt. Harold Wedding of Saginaw who served multiple enlistments with the Michigan National Guard between 1926 and 1940 as a Sergeant with Company “F” of the 125th Infantry. Mustered out of the National Guard in 1940, he joined the Michigan State Troops in April of 1941as a Sergeant. In February of 1942 he was commissioned as a Lieutenant. Lt Wedding served as Commander of Headquarters Detachment, First Battalion, 33rd Infantry Regiment and remained with the State Troops until they were disbanded in 1947. The Tunic is a standard Army four pocket pattern, but note that the buttons depict the Seal of the State of Michigan instead of the Army design. The ribbon is a Michigan State Troops unique item, the Actual Duty Ribbon. To have earned this ribbon, Lt Wedding was on normal State Active Duty for at least 30 days or served during a declared emergency. The Small Star in the ribbon indicates Lt Wedding was eligible for this award twice.
