Description

28"x14" framed sketch Russel Engineering Company Sketch 1942 There are many things going on in this drawing, which appears to be a gag Christmas gift from 1942. From what we can tell, it is from the Russel Engineering Company, which was apparently engaged in designing the “Continental Aircraft Bommer (sp) Motor Plant” We have not been able to find any information on the Russel Engineering Co., but based on the view from the window in the sketch, it appears to have been located on the river near the Ambassador Bridge. In addition, the plant rendering held by the gentleman in the center of the drawing does not resemble any of the Continental Engine plants we know of, so perhaps they did not get the contract? Look at all the small details in this sketch, and all the little office jokes, spider webs, cigarette smoke, the leaky radiator, and the not so politically correct humor. It is an interesting glimpse into the human side of the war production effort during WWII. Do you have any knowledge of the Russel Engineering Company? Let Us Know!
