Boring Machine (WB-37)

Description

This machine was made by Mr. Collins to bore out large diameter objects such as pulley wheels. In his oral history, Horace Collins refers to this as a "face plate lathe". As Horace relates the story, Mr. Collins had taken a large pulley wheel from the steam engine which powered his sawmill to Detwhiler's machine shop in Kimberton to be bored out. He became impatient when no progress was made and decided to build a lathe and do the job himself!
