Description

Handmade dish/ashtray in the shape of New Jersey. Inside of dish has inscription: "Greetings from Millburn N.J." and handpainted violets (state flower of NJ).Back of the dish maker's name (under the glaze?): "made by H.P. Buchholz" in additon to a sticker that has ink inscription: "New Jersey shapped (sic) tray" 12.00 and a sticker that has an ink note: "Collect all the states!" E-Mail from Tom Aurnhammer stated that: "The ashtray you speak of was made by my grandmother Helen. She was the wife of Fred Buchholz and daughter of John Thomas Partington. I still have a few of her ceramic creations." Tiny brown spot (under the glaze?) between and to the right of "from" and "Millburn" on the inside bottom of the dish. Back as a few ca. 1/2" long unglazed streaks. Outside sides have light, gray discoloration under the glaze. Ca. 1/4" chip in the glaze, on the greeen stripe around the edge of the dish, and near and to the left of "N.J."
