James Shackelton photograph of Christmas dinner and family reunion at the house of Dr. and Mrs. David E. English (Margaret Jane Caparn), Millburn Avenue, 1902. Picture on the wall is of Ann Elizabeth Price Caparn, wife of Thomas J. Caparn. According to the inscription on the verso of the photograph: " Everything, the style was to be as old English as possible, the family being of English birth, and possessing among them, many articles for table use of considerable age and family connection.
The china is Old English, much of it Wedgewood ware. The glasses and decanters are very old English cut glass. Some of the silver pieces are very old indeed."Acquisition
