Label on the back of the photo states: "TOWN FOUNDER INSPECTS LATEST IN SUBURBAN HOMES. Stewart Hartshorn (right), founder and 97-year-old pioneer of Short Hills, N.J., shown with Joseph P Day, New York realtor, before the 'IDEAL SUBURBAN HOME' on Farley Road, Short Hills, N.J. The home, sponsored by the Better Homes Committee of the Oranges, Maplewood, Millburn, and Short Hills, as part of the National Better Homes movement, was formally opened on April 23. CREDIT LINE (ACME) 5/2/35" Back of photo is also stamped "REF. DEPT.; May 7 1935; N.E.A." and "Photo by ACME." Written in pencil over the label is a line to Stewart Hartshorn's name and "Dec'd Jan 1937" and above that is A31274. The upper left corner of the photo has a small piece of the border corner missing and the bottom edge of the photo is rippled, as from water damage, although it is not stained. Corner are bumped and edges are lightly worn. Purchased on eBay from Historic Images; 6073 Mt. Moriah Ext; Memphis TN 38115.
