Railroad: Millburn Railroad Station, Main Street, 1892Description
The photograph first appeared in the April 29, 1948 edition of The Item and was reprinted in the 1957 Centennial Book, "Milburn railroad station in 1892 when the tracks ran at grade level and one L in Millburn was the vogue. Just when the additional L was added is unknown, but it presumable came along with the change in location of the station to its present position. Pictured are: Michael Flanagan (gateman), George McCollum (baggage master), B.L. Farrell (ticket agent), Irving McCollum, John McCollum (station agent), David Townley, Albert Sickley and Rev. A.W.Stanley. Horsedrawn buggies were in style as shown in the rear left hand corner."
Note from 1997: When Millburn was chartered in 1857, the name was with 2 L's. It is not known when or why the L was dropped. The double L was back in use for the 1907 Semi-Centennial Celebration.Collection
