Description

Black and white photo of Cornell's Meat Market, formerly at the corner of Brookside Drive and Old Short Hills Road, across the street from the Millburn Middle School. The building was built as a home in about 1870 and the first floor of that building later became Cornell's meat market, as can be seen on the awning in the photo. When it was no longer a market it returned to being a dwelling. In 1938 it became the first town library, and the site is now a pocket park. This glossy b/w photo is a reproduction of the original photo and has minor edgewear, bumped corners, and small, light dimples on the right side of the approximate middle of the front of the photo. The back is marked in pencil: "Cornell's Meat Market later became first library. Corner of Brookside Dr. and Old Short Hills Road -- across from MJHS." The back of the photo is also stamped with a red "094."
