Photograph of the founding members of the National Cartoonists Society, 1946. In 1946, a few dozen cartoonists came together to found the National Cartoonists Society to celebrate and promote their profession and to host special events and get-togethers for members. Members gathered in this photograph from 1949 are: Front Row: Williard Mullin, Ernie Bushmiller, Alfred Andriola, Milton Caniff, Gregory D'Alessio and Rube Goldberg.
