Photograph published in the 1908 Millburn Board of Education Annual Report (2022.262.001) showing the Children's Reading Table at the Millburn School Library. The Millburn School was also known as the Washington School and was located on Millburn Avenue, which later became Schoolhouse Plaza. The school library was started in February 1906 with 935 books. By early 1908, there were 5,000 volumes and branch libraries had been established in the White Oak Ridge and Wyoming Schools. The Millburn School library was opened to the general public in 1907 and circulation for the school year ending June 30, 1907 was 8,000 volumes.
